What you need to know about Toy Poodles

1.

Toy Poodles are extremely intelligent and are an easily trained breed. They are agile and graceful as well as smart, and they enjoy and excel in a variety of canine sports, including agility, obedience, and tracking.

2.

Toy poodles are a great breed for apartment living due to their small size as long as she is given daily walks and short play sessions.

3.

Poodles love to learn. As one of the most intelligent and responsive breeds with an instinct for obedience and a people-pleasing nature, they are one of the easiest dogs to train. High levels of intelligence means that a Poodle needs plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to keep it from being bored. You will find a poodle an easy breed to train for off-leash work.

4.

They're extremely self-confident yet eager-to-please. And don't let their diminutive size fool you: They're true athletes.

5.

The poodle by nature is calm and friendly. Due to its high intellectual abilities, it is often on the alert in front of strangers. It is non-aggressive, very good with children, easily finds common ground with other pets at home, and makes good friends with the owner very quickly. And it rarely barks if trained the right way.

6.

Toy Poodles do not shed and are often (though not always) tolerated by allergic people. Their coats do take a great deal of care, though, generally requiring dog grooming, as well as regular combing and brushing at home.

7.

This means they are a good match for a home where a member of the family is sensitive to dog hair. Besides not shedding, Poodles are well-known as clean dogs who lack the "doggy" smell of many other breeds.

8.

Daily brushing and regular grooming is needed every 6-8 weeks to keep her coat beautiful.
